Prompt fundamentals

Write your first five-part image prompt

Replace a pile of adjectives with subject, action, setting, composition, and light.

What you’ll make

Turn a vague idea into an image brief you can explain and revise.

Step by step

  1. Name one main subject and give it a visible action. “A cyclist repairing a wheel” communicates more than “beautiful cinematic cyclist.” Make the action simple enough to read in a single frame.
  2. Place the subject in a specific setting. Describe two details that matter to the picture, such as a tiled workshop floor and an open doorway. Too many competing objects can distract from the subject.
  3. Choose how the viewer sees the scene: wide shot, medium shot, or close-up. State where the subject sits in the frame. Decide the crop in ArtFlame.ai before generating so your composition has a clear boundary.
  4. Add a light source and a visual treatment. Generate a small first attempt, then write down the single largest mismatch. Revise that part of the brief while holding the others steady.

Example prompt

An adult cyclist repairing a wheel in a small neighborhood workshop. Tiled floor and an open doorway in the background. Medium-wide composition with the cyclist on the left. Soft morning light enters from the right. Natural editorial photography, restrained colors.

Review your result

Can you point to each of the five parts in the result? If the intended action is unreadable, solving that matters more than adding surface detail.

If the first attempt misses

If the picture feels cluttered, remove secondary objects. If it feels generic, add one specific physical detail instead of repeating quality words.

Your next exercise

Write a second prompt for the same subject using a close-up and evening light. Compare how these two changes affect the story.
